Dear Residents, Responsible Parties, Visitors and Staff Members, Unfortunately, I must share that within the last 24 hours we have had one resident and one staff member test positive for Covid-19. The resident is from one of our long -term care units and the staff member works on the same unit. Upon developing symptoms, both completed a Covid-19 test and the results for both were positive. Our resident has been placed on isolation and will be cared for following guidelines from the CDC, as well as our facility infection prevention policies. Our staff member has been removed from the schedule and will also follow CDC guideline before returning to work.

They must also test negative for Covid prior to returning to work. As a result of these positive cases, members of our nursing administration team completed Covid-19 testing for residents and staff who were potentially exposed. No additional positive cases have been identified following these tests. We will continue to test staff and residents this week in an effort to prevent this virus from spreading. We will communicate the results of those tests and update you accordingly with any changes to our Covid-19 guidelines.

With two positive cases, our center is in Outbreak status. Because both cases were from our Bay Lane unit, residents, visitors and staff on this unit must wear a mask. However, we strongly recommend that all individuals consider wearing a mask inside the facility. Also, we recommend everyone frequently sanitize their hands, practice social distancing as much as possible and consider testing before and after any time spent in the center. As always, please do not enter the building if you are symptomatic and/or not feeling well. We can provide test kits, if necessary, please advise our security desk. We will also modify activities for our residents.

It is also appropriate at this time to advise everyone that we have a Covid vaccination clinic scheduled for September 23rd and September 30th. Residents and staff who are not up to date with their vaccine are encouraged to sign up for this clinic. Please contact our Nursing Administration team at extension 2100 to be included in the clinic. Vaccination is still the strongest defense against Covid-19.

About the Board

This Board oversees and makes recommendations to the management of the Citizens Care.

The Board consists of ten members: eight members appointed by the Harford County Executive, subject to confirmation by the Harford County Council and two ex officio members.

One ex officio member will be appointed by the County Executive and the other ex officio member will be appointed by the County Council. An ex officio member serves at the pleasure of the County Executive and County Council. All other members serve a three-year term.

All members of the board shall be residents of the Harford County. The board’s duties are to establish, maintain, and operate a nursing or convalescent home and any other facilities and services necessary for the proper care and treatment of aged, convalescent and chronically ill residents of the county.
