Brief follow up to yesterday’s communication. During scheduled testing this morning, a resident on one of our long term care units tested positive. The resident has been placed on isolation and will be monitored closely. Please reread the information below as it is still very relevant to our current status, our guidelines have not changed. Thank you for cooperating.

Dear Residents, Family Members, Staff and Visitors,

Today’s Covid-19 update is to inform you that we have had two residents and one staff member test positive since our last update. The residents will be monitored closely while in isolation and the staff member will remain off of the schedule while following CDC guidelines. Testing of both residents and staff who were potentially exposed to any of these three new cases or who are symptomatic, will continue into next week. If additional cases are identified, we will provide an update.

In spite of the recent changes from the CDC in reference to the general public, Maryland Department of Health (MDH) is stating that they have seen an increase in Covid-19 cases across the state. MDH is asking us to remind everyone that those changes do not apply to healthcare settings. They also want to remind everyone that the best defense against Covid-19 is to be up to date with vaccinations. Specifically, they ask that we share that people who are up to date have a lower risk of severe illness, hospitalization and death from Covid-19, versus people who have not completed the doses recommended for them by the CDC. Additional updated Covid- 19 vaccine doses can help restore protection that has decreased since previous vaccinations.

Our center has a vaccination clinic scheduled for next Thursday, 3/14 from 10am – 2pm. Residents and staff who are not up to date with vaccinations are encouraged to sign up. We are offering vaccines for Covid-19, RSV, Influenza and Shingles. Please contact our nursing administration team at extension 2100 to sign up or to get more information. Don’t pass up this opportunity to get up to date with your vaccinations.

We appreciate your cooperation with masks, hand sanitizing, social distancing and frequent testing. Our staff can assist you with any of these aspects of our guidelines, please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

Sincerely,

Ed Walter, Administrator
