Activities

Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center prides itself on its superior activity staff of eight members and how they provide your loved ones with an extensive schedule of activities both on and off campus. These activities are provided well into the evening giving our residents the largest amount of variety possible.

The programs are designed to be entertaining as well as physically and mentally challenging. Residents' rights are ou number one priority with the activity staff and are respected at all times. The staff encourages the residents to join in by picking and choosing their preferred programs.

Socialization is an integral part of wellness and this includes those residents who are cognitively impaired. A program called “The Club” has been implemented to accommodate their special needs. This program is centered on those residents who are unable to join in an off unit or large program. By creating a program that is sensitive to these populations’ special needs, their dignity and rights are preserved.

Families are encouraged to spend quality time with their loved ones by sharing meals during special occasions and Holidays. The activity department and the dietary department work closely together to see that these experiences are not only delicious but also entertaining for all as well.

Our most popular activity is Gourmet Galley, a weekly program that residents work together with staff to make a home cooked five-course meal. This program encompasses most therapies and the residents never even consider it work.

At Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center we emphasize Care and Wellness in everything we do. Our activity program is no exception. Your loved one has the opportunity to choose from an extensive calendar of events. Outside programs such as shopping trips, dinner theaters, movies, community events, walks along the promenade by the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, picnics in Tydings Park and garden or factory tours in neighboring states are just a few outings provided. Residents unable to be transferred are allowed to participate on these outings using a wheelchair lift van.

Socialization plays a big part in the healing process. In the rehabilitation part of our facility activities are offered in between therapies and in the evening.
